THE KING'S/QUEEN'S COMMENDATION FOR VALUABLE SERVICE IN THE AIR

First awarded in 1942, The King's (later Queen's) Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air is awarded in recognition of gallantry or meritorious service associated with military or civil flying activities.

Military personnel wear a bronze oak leaf identical to the second type of Mention in Dispatches. It is worn on the appropriate campaign medal. If no medal has been awarded, the emblem is worn on the uniform after any other medal ribbons.

Civilian recipients receive a silver lapel badge that is worn immediately below any other medals or ribbons.
